Explore St. Augustine's Treasures on Our Historic Walking Tours

St. Augustine History Walk
Simply put, this is all 500 years of St. Augustine history in two hours! This tour generally flows chronologically, beginning with the location's importance to the Spanish crown. We'll then proceed through the distinct periods of the city's history. We'll cover enemy attacks, wars, and pestilence. You'll learn how the city changed hands as well as the permanent marks left by each occupying nation. We'll view ancient places of worship and the oldest public space in the country. Men like Henry Flagler and Franklin Smith appear in the 19th Century and forever change the trajectory of the city. We'll tie things up with the present day, even giving our thoughts on the questions we'll pose to you at the beginning of the tour.
This is a comprehensive tour. Due to its design, you'll leave it with a solid understanding of the history of the nation's oldest city.
Please note that our morning and afternoon/evening tours begin in different locations. The morning tour allows us to visit more of upper St. George Street before afternoon crowds overtake it, while our later tours spend more time south of the Plaza amongst some of the city's most historic buildings. While the overall narrative is generally the same, you'll notice very different scenery on each tour, including our commentary on the various buildings we encounter.

St. Augustine Dark History
As a city with nearly 500 years of history, St. Augustine is no stranger to tragedy. Pirates, yellow fever, fires, foreign invasions, and unsolved murders are just a few pieces of the dark history St. Augustine has experienced. This tour centers on the macabre side of the city. You'll learn about the trials and tribulations the citizens encountered and how they learned from them, moving toward the modern city we all know and love. Please note this is not a ghost tour, though we may just debunk a prevalent ghost story or two. This tour is perfect, however, for those who may enjoy the darker side of things while staying grounded in verifiable fact.
